Unlike the USA, much of Europe is much more secular, atheist, agnostic, and liberal.
Things generally are a lot better in Europe except for sometimes the seemingly religious immigrant Muslims culturally clash with the more secular liberal Europeans.
I've also noticed, that aside from Europe, so many of the poorer/more backwards countries around the world (and the countries that will most likely not advance as much in the future) have much higher percentages of people who are pretty religious/spiritual in their beliefs while a lot of Asians who are naturally more secular, atheist, agnostic, and liberal are going to have great wealthy peaceful countries in the future just like a lot of Europe which is pretty secular, atheist, agnostic, and liberal and growing in that regards (again, aside from the immigrant Muslims).
It's obvious that religion/spirituality is not good for the progression of humanity. What do you say to that, religious/spiritual folks?I'm not religious, but you're confusing correlation with causation. How about Sweden, Atheist and the lowest crime rate in the world.Matthew 6:19 Do not treasure up for you treasures on the earth, where moth and rust cause to perish, and where thieves dig through and steal.
Ecclesiastes 12:12-14 And furthermore, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. This is the end of the matter; all hath been heard: fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every work into judgment, with every hidden thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
So you see, a Christian does not worry or bother with wealth. If they have it they use it for good. The duty of a Christian is to fear God and keep His commandments. Our wealth is later.
And we look forward to it.
I hope this helps you.Sounds like there are more of your type in Europe. I hear the weather is nice over there this time of year. Send us a postcard.I say...I hearby add this question to the drinking list and I have a Diet Coke I just opened especially for that purpose.
I would like to know where people are getting these statistics that say how religious Europe is. I'm not saying that they are wrong, just curious. I haven't seen them anywhere else. Maybe I'll look it up later.
Whatever Europe is like, I really don't care. I don't live there and it doesn't affect me. Good for them. Now, on to my Diet Coke...
Cheers! The question is good one, and one that many will answer differently. My thoughts are that you've put all religions into one basket and I don't feel that you can really do that. I also don't think you can attribute peoples wealth to religion. You say that the poorer countries are more religious than richer ones that aren't so religious. Could it be that because they are poor countries, the people need something to believe in? Why not a god or goddess ... or a multitude of them?
If you believe that the progression of the human race can be summed up in dollars and cents then I have to disagree. The progression of the human race lies within us as a whole and doesn't rest with religion. It's all to do with how we communicate with each other and treat each other. If we could just all get along, then humanity would progress just fine.not true on all terms.......While I don't believe in any god/s, I also think that there are certain religions that promote peace, both in written word and in physical action.....these religions can and do peacefully coexist and can be good for humanity as a whole---not that all should follow such ideas, but that following such ideas does not pit one against another. Monotheism, the belief in one god, over and above all other gods...and the frequently corresponding belief that all must believe as I do....is what makes religion violent and incompatible with progress.I agree and by the way...you should include Canada too. Warding off US influence on a daily basis:DWhen did Europe become peaceful?!! Oh yea, after Hitler, Stalin, and the other great "spiritual" leaders died.don't confuse religion with exclusive monotheism. a lot of us 'religious/spiritual folks' are quite liberal and embrace science and secularism as much as you do. you're free to believe what you want, and so are we.Well good question. Here is my opinion. God said --- A lot. Try to do a little studying before you rule out the Lord. There are a lot of prophecys fulfilled by Jesus to prove he was the son of God. So therefore there is a God.Religion is just a psychological coping mechanism, which governments often use to their advantage. It's particularly attractive to poor, ignorant and oppressed people either because they're lazy and it makes them feel better about their own personal shortcomings, or its glowing promises of some "pie in the sky" reward after they die helps them tolerate the crappy life they have here on earth and makes them less likely to try to change things and rebel against the tyrants who keep them that way.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
